You can't trust half the signs people put up in London, you know.
Take this one, for instance, on railings in Carter St this morning, just by St Paul's Cathedral. It says 'No Bicycles', yet there's clearly a bicycle there.
I suppose the reason you cycle rather than take the tube is that you saw a sign at the top of the escalator saying 'Dogs Must Be Carried' and you just couldn't find anyone with a spare dog?
It's not about lycra. It's not about racing, or saving the world, or crossing the Nullarbor Plain alone except for the film crew.
It's about the best way of commuting, shopping, sightseeing, socialising, partying, and generally just getting from A to B every day: by bike.
This blog was maintained daily from Jan 2009 to Sep 2010, and occasionally from then until 2013. My new blog, from Feb 2021, is at e2e.bike. It has hundreds of pages on cycle-touring across Britain, Ireland and the rest of the world.
