Turn your bike into furniture

Just noticed this on greenmuze.com: a US cycle mechanic turned furniture maker who recycles old bits of bike and turns them into stylish (for which read 'uncomfortable') things to sit on or knock your shins against.

Come to think of it, this is the perfect use for those eighty-quid 'mountain bikes' you see advertised in the paper.

  1. Mikael of Copenhagenize.com had an Article about this someone in Denmark done the same thing ,built Chairs out of Bicycles.

I think it is a great Idea if they can make them comfortable and not hard on the Posterior to sit on.

I am very hard on Chairs especially Kitchen Chairs and always breaking them.

You would be amazed at the type of stuff People throw away.Anytime I was looking for Chairs when one or two got broke,I would keep a casual Eye on the Skips and even some of the Parks in my District for Furniture. I have found Kitchen Chairs in good Order every so often. It is Rare you will find a complete set of Four but I have about a Year ago thrown out in a Persons Skip outside their Door.
I got fed up trying to buy New ones at the cost they are charging and me breakig them. I slipped up a couple of times when I just ignored what I saw in some Skips.
There is a Market out there for these Chairs if they can make them Cheaply enough to Sell them.

  2. I think the idea with chairs made out of bicycle components is that the seat only becomes comfortable after you've sat on it for a few hundred miles, I mean hours.

  3. Come to think of it, I suggested that this was a good use for those cheapo chainstore 'bikes'. Does this mean making a Bicycle Shaped Object into an Object Shaped Bicycle?
